Happy Anniversary to the Shelter Meal Program

June 03, 2021

June 1, 2021 marked one year since Dining & Hospitality Services started feeding community members in need by delivering meals to various shelters across Santa Cruz County. The endeavor was born out of the circumstances of the pandemic. With very few people to feed on campus during summer 2020, Dining & Hospitality began looking off-campus for opportunities to serve. Since then, we've served over 350,000 meals to people in need.

The Unit Manager leading the charge on the Shelter Meal Program, Traci Takeuchi, said, “Little did we know that a year later we would still be at it. We’re blessed that this opportunity found us when it did, and I’m grateful to work with such an amazing and hard working team. As we near the end of the program, and hopefully return to our normal, I want to say THANK YOU! I’m proud to know that wildfires and a pandemic won't stop this Dining Team!”
