Tabling Policy

UCSC Dining is proud to support student engagement and campus outreach. We welcome authorized campus departments and registered student organizations to table in our dining halls as a way to share information and connect with students in meaningful ways.
At the same time, we’re committed to preserving the dining halls as welcoming, comfortable spaces where students can relax, enjoy their meals, and spend time with friends. To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we’ve established a few important guidelines:
- One group at a time: To maintain a low-impact environment, only one tabling group is allowed in a dining hall at a time—and all tabling must be approved in advance.
- Respecting guest space: Tabling representatives must remain at their assigned table. Approaching guests who are seated or waiting in line for food is not permitted. Outreach should always be voluntary—students must feel free to engage or walk past.
- Surveying students: If you are conducting a survey or collecting responses, you may only engage with students who approach your table on their own.

How to make a tabling reservation
Note: Tabling requests for Porter/Kresge Dining Hall are managed separately by the Porter Activities Office. To request a reservation, email PorterACPC@ucsc.edu or call (831) 459-2857.
Step 1: Apply to join the UCSC Dining Tabling Program
Only authorized campus departments and registered student organizations will be approved. Please allow up to one week for review. Once approved, you’ll receive a welcome email with access to our members-only online scheduler.
Step 2: Schedule your reservation
Use the scheduler to book your tabling date and location. You’ll receive confirmation and reminder emails for each reservation, and our Unit Managers will be notified of your scheduled visit.
Additional guidelines
- Schedule only the time you need, and please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance.
- Tabling representatives do not receive complimentary meals or beverages. If you plan to dine, please pay the standard entry fee at the cashier.
- Tables must not block entrances, exits, or customer service areas. If asked to relocate, please do so promptly—failure to comply may result in suspension from the tabling program.
