Support during Ramadan
UC Santa Cruz is committed to supporting students observing Ramadan through expanded dining options, access to prayer spaces, and campus resources.

Dining hall options
Halal food and dates will be available during Ramadan at select UCSC Dining locations, including during evening meal hours to support students breaking their fast. Take-home options for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) may also be available for students who visit dining halls for iftar.
More details about specific dining halls and markets offering Ramadan support will be shared during fall quarter.
Eco-Box Program
Students may be able to use an Eco-Box to take a second meal for suhoor. A deposit of 10 Slug Points or Banana Bucks is required, which is refunded when the box is returned.
Market options
Halal-certified items can be found at various UCSC markets.
Prayer spaces
- A designated prayer space will be available each evening during Ramadan in the College 9/John R. Lewis Community Room.
- The Reflection Center in Quarry Plaza will remain open 24 hours a day for individual prayer.
